Sheikh Hasina Wazed is a Bangladeshi politician and the 10th Prime Minister of Bangladesh from June 1996 to July 2001 and again from January 2009 as her daughter. His father was the Bengali nationalist leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and mother Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib. Her family is of Iraqi Arab descent on both her paternal and maternal sides, being a direct descendant of Sheikh Abdul Awal Darwish, a Muslim preacher from Baghdad who came to Bengal during the late Mughal period. As a child, Hasina grew up in Tungipara under the care of her mother and grandmother. When the family moved to Dhaka, they first lived in Segunbagicha area. When his father became a government minister in 1954, they lived at 3 Minto Road. In the 1950s, her father worked for the Alpha Insurance Company alongside her political activities. In the 1960s, the family moved to a house built by his father on 32 Road in Dhanmondi.

Education
Sheikh Hasina attended primary school in her Tungipara village. When her family moved to Dhaka, she enrolled in Azimpur Girls School. She enrolled in Eden College for his bachelor’s degree.In 1966 and 1967, she was chosen to serve as vice-president of the student union at Eden College.
